Brief Introduction
This is a collection of works based on a potential story involving two characters, in different appearances and mindsets but with exactly the same experience, since they are spiritual relatives rather than relatives by blood: one is formed from the mind of the other, after a series of events in a pilgrimage. In a space where entering another world becomes accessible, the latter one started to chase back trails that remained before the birth, but after reentering the places of the world where the pilgrimage passed through, hundreds of years have gone and new stories are now taking place under the previous causes.

There is a Chinese phrase, namely "opening the gate of heart", which means to speak honestly. In the creation of the first illustration, I would like to address this phrase to represent the internal feeling of the character: while it appears to be a calm sea on the cover, a lot of thoughts, which are underneath, are intended to be hidden. As someone finally who would like to share honestly, the beginning is hard since there are many worries about the consequences. It is the first time for one to show part of oneself, and therefore the pose here is cautious and concerned.
For the second illustration, which is a drawing corresponding to the first one, I would like to present a different kind of situation: the surface of the lake is kept in mysterious peace in the rain. As the door opens, the real self is revealed, and a low-key observer faces the visitors leisurely with full confidence.
Below are the iterations in making, and I found myself satisfied in polishing them:)

Writing, January 2024

This is a set of two illustrations that present the subtle relationship between the writer and the reader. While writers may present something, the readers may receive something else. An indirect talk and observation happen, labor of "archaeology", when we try to decipher the background of the writer, instead of the setting of the work. Similarly, these two illustrations also share corresponding elements in design.
